Easy art for children – Painting on tin foil

I wanted to do something special today for the boys. While I was setting up, they were wondering why I was walking back and forth from the kitchen to the garden. Midiman got a bit restless because he was asked to stay inside until I had set everything up. Poor him.

I put the finger paint with a drop of dish soap in an egg carton and added several q-tips. The dish soap is to help the paint stick and make cleaning up easier

Ok, so it’s not that special, just some regular old tin foil to paint on instead of paper. But it’s shiny and shimmery and you can see a very hazy reflection of yourself in the foil while you paint which feels rather magical. I used two wooden board we use for painting and covered those with tin foil. Since the foil is a bit delicate I made sure to attach it properly with painting tape. Then I  attached it on our wooden fence. After taking everything outside, I let the boys to the “Art bus”.

The boys were anxious to start.

Midiman didn’t like for his hands to get dirty. “Ieuw, my hand is dirty. Mom, MOM!!! Get it off!”

Although it did bring Maximan to an idea. And he started to paint his hands.

All in all it was a fun outside activity. The boys are already standby for the next “Art bus”.
